CASTELLÓ. Kartogroup España, the Burriana-based plant dedicated to tissue paper manufacturing, continues to grow and, according to its latest financial statements, in 2024 it tripled its profits, reaching €7 million, and closed the year with a turnover of €114 million. The company, part of the Cominter group (headquartered in Hospitalet de Llobregat), employs 217 people and has managed to increase its industrial margins thanks to “improved profitability in its products,” according to its financial report. In this context, the firm plans to invest €4 million in 2026 in Burriana, in the redevelopment of the industrial park housing the paper mill and in the installation of a palletizing robot.

The report highlights that the operating profit reached 10.6% of sales, up from 9.14% in 2023, while profits increased from €2.2 million in 2023 to €7.2 million in 2024. The company emphasizes its stability in margins and industrial costs, achieving a turnover similar to 2023, with a total figure of €114.6 million. Revenue fell by 13% due to price reductions, but operating profit rose to €12 million, exceeding the previous year’s performance.

It also notes that the company maintained the full confidence of its clients in the large retail market, while in the industrial tissue segment it experienced a favorable evolution in both sales and activity compared to 2023.

Jordi Canals, CEO of Kartogroup and Cominter, points out that the improvement in industrial margins “is due to the reduction in electricity and gas costs, and the drop in raw material prices at the end of 2023 and during the first quarter of 2024.”

€20 million invested over the past five years

Regarding 2025, the CEO states that they expect growth in the industrial “Away From Home” channel with the addition of new clients, while in large retail they aim to consolidate existing buyers with new product lines. The main markets include Spain, France, the United Kingdom, and Portugal.

Following this growth path, Kartogroup will continue with its investment plan. Over the past five years, it has allocated €20 million to energy efficiency projects, launching machinery that reduces energy consumption and installing photovoltaic panels, according to Jordi Canals.

In 2026, the company will focus mainly on the redevelopment of the Burriana industrial area where it is located, with the aim of equipping the zone with all the basic services needed for its operations and adapting the site to the current General Urban Development Plan. This project was first requested in 2018 and, after several administrative procedures and processes, is now entering its final phase. It covers an area of 36,086 m² within one of Burriana’s oldest industrial estates, popularly known as the Camí Fondo–Camí Xamussa industrial park.

It is worth noting that the Kartogroup plant is part of Cominter’s business group, which has its headquarters in Hospitalet and another plant in Hernani.

Mayor Jorge Monferrer and members of the municipal government team visited the Kartogroup industrial site as part of the “With My Neighbors” campaign. Kartogroup is a company dedicated to the production of tissue paper (toilet paper, kitchen rolls, napkins, and industrial rolls). Located in Burriana since 2001, it has 220 employees, more than 60% of whom are local residents.

During the visit, the collaboration with Burriana was highlighted: agreements with IES Llombai, solidarity actions during the DANA storm and the pandemic, and new initiatives such as an upcoming partnership with the local soup kitchen.

With a cumulative investment of over 70 million euros in recent years, Kartogroup plans to develop the industrial estate where it is located, which will result in the improvement and modernization of the industrial area.

The City Council continues to listen to our companies and is committed to industrial development that generates quality employment and contributes to the city’s economic transformation.
